I. INTRODUCTION:

District Industries Centre : Karimnagar is established in the year 1978 with an objective to extend support to entrepreneurs to identify viable industries and extend necessary support / guidance. The District Industries Centre is operating a single window clearance cell to assist the Entrepreneurs in pre and post implementation of industrial projects.

II. ORGANISATION STRUCTURE:

The District Industries Centre is headed by the General Manager in the cadre of Joint Director ( Inds. ) . He is assisted by One Deputy Director and two Asst.Directors as Area Officers and 11 Industrial Promotion Officers in the field level. The Office is provided with sufficient ministerial Office.

III. ACTIVITIES / SCHEMES & STATUS AS ON DATE 31.10.2011

SMALL SCALE INDUSTRIES

There are 9018 Small Scale Industries existing in the District with an investment of Rs. 21,120 lakhs providing employment to 79373 persons. Most of the Small Scale Industries are Rice Mills, Parboiled Rice Mills, Seed Processing , Packaged Drinking Water, Flour, Chilly and Turmeric Mills, Saw Mills, Wooden furniture, Power looms Readymade Garments mfg., Stone crushers, General Engineering Works, Milk Processing, Silver filigree, flex Printing, Screen Printing, Cotton Ginning Mill, Granite Processing, Cement Fly Ash and clay Bricks etc.

SINGLE WINDOW CLEARANCE CELL

The Single Window Clearance Cell is functioning in the District Industries Centre under the Chairmanship of the District Collector to provide all the clearances required for the Industrial units by filing a common application for all the permissions required by the industry at one single point, the District Industries Centre is nodal agency for the Single Window Clearance Cell. The status of permissions applied in the cell will be reviewed by the District Committee headed by the District Collector every fortnight / Month as per the pendency of the cases.

Under the scheme so far 1883 have applied for 2789 clearances out of which 2537 permissions were issued and the remaining clearance are under process with concerned departments.

DISTRICT INDUSTRIES PROMOTION COMMITTEE :

The District Industries Promotion Committee under the Chairmanship of the District Collector will look after problems if any faced by the existing industries in the District by meeting every month . The DIPC will also recommend the Government to solve the problems of the Industrial Units if any at Government level.

INDUSTRIAL INVESTMENT PROMOTION POLICY : 2005-10

Under this scheme the Government is extending various incentives to the Industrial Units being established in the District. The details of the incentives offered by the Government under IIPP - 2010 - 15 Policy are as follows.

1. 1. Investment Subsidy @ 15 % to the eligible Units established by the Entrepreneurs belonging to General category.
2. 2. An additional incentive of 5% will be given to the units established by Women Entreprenuers.
3. 3. Investment Subsidy @ 35 % to the eligible Units established by the Entrepreneurs belonging to SC / ST category.
4. 4. An additional incentive of 5% will be given to the units established by Women Entrepreneurs.
5. 5. 100 % reimbursement of Sales Tax .
6. 6. Interest Subsidy ( Under Pavala Vaddi ) Scheme
7. 7. Reimbursement of Power tariff @ Rs.0.75 paise per Unit.
8. 8. 100 % reimbursement of Stamp duty and transfer duty.

Under IIPP 2005-10, (178) units have been sanctioned investment subsidy of an amount of Rs. 6,25,43,395-00 in Karimnagar District.

PRIME MINISTERS EMPLOYMENT GENERATION PROGRAMME :

The Prime Ministers Employment Generation Programme PMEGP Scheme was launched by the Khadi & Village Industries Commission in Karimnagar District in the month of Feb - 2009 . KVIC, AP.Khadi & Village Industries Board and District Industries Centre are the implementing agencies at District Level. The State Director / Representative of the KVIC is the Member Convener for conducting of interviews for selection of beneficiaries .

The maximum amount of project cost under the scheme would be Rs. 10.00 Lakhs for Servicing Sector units and Rs.25.00 Lakhs for Mfg.Sector. Project cost will include Capital Expenditure, and one cycle of Working Capital. Projects without Capital Expenditure are not eligible for financing under the scheme. Cost of land should not be included in the project cost. Cost of the ready built as well as long lease or rental work shed to be included in the project cost calculated for a maximum period of 3 Years. The pattern of funding under PMEG would be as under

Under Prime Ministers Employment Generation Programme ( PMEGP ) 2010-11, the District target is (80) units, (300) candidates were selected and forwarded to the banks, and received (85) sanctions from various banks and ( 35 ) units have been grounded.
